Interesting news from Web Performance Daily regarding the prevalence of real user monitoring in the ecommerce industry. This nonscientific poll suggests 1 in 5 large ecommerce sites rely on RUM. I believe this number will continue to grow steadily over the years:

Real user monitoring (RUM) is a white-hot topic in our industry right now. For those new to the topic, RUM is monitoring technology that records all user interaction with a website or client interacting with a server or cloud based application. RUM tools use Javascript that’s injected into a page to provide feedback from the browser or client.
