The West Virginia Health Information Network was created with the goal of building an electronic health information system to improve the integrity of patient data. CIO Kathy Moore explains that a major challenge is ensuring employees use the system and that its performance is conducive to such use:
Technically [the electronic health records] need to be in one place, and organizationally [the providers] need to be ready, too. That’s a big part of the onboarding process. You can connect up technically, but if you don’t know how to use it, what data you want to contribute, how your employees are going to implement that, then you’re not really ready.
